Ryan Blatz

Attorney

A lifelong resident of the area, I grew up right here in Ojai. After attending Ojai Valley School and graduating from Nordhoff High School in 1999, I attended the University of Southern California (USC), where I earned a degree in Communication with an emphasis on Journalism and Politics. During this time, I worked as a nightly news anchor for the USC TV station, ATVN. Upon graduating from USC, I worked as a sales executive at Lexington Technology of Irvine, CA before deciding to pursue a legal career. I attended law school at the Ventura and Santa Barbara Colleges of Law, graduating in 2009 with a law degree. During this time, I worked at the Blatz Law Firm and began volunteering with the Ojai FLOW campaign.

In my time spent with Ojai FLOW (Friends of Locally Owned Water), I and six other Ojai residents took on the Golden State Water Company (GSWC). As the area’s private, for-profit water purveyor of more than 80 years, GSWC had been holding Ojai residents hostage with exorbitant rates and extremely poor service. Although the local government had said there was nothing they could do about the problem, Ojai FLOW was determined to address the issue and get GSWC to leave Ojai for good. Ultimately, Ojai residents voted very in favor or raising taxes in order to buy out GSWC. This first success was soon met with a lawsuit from GSWC, who claimed that the election was invalid. After successfully winning the class action in trial, as well as an appeal by GSWC, we took on GSWC by suing for damages from the failed lawsuit. We used this to leverage GSWC into accepting a buy out and leaving Ojai forever.

Following the success of the Ojai FLOW campaign, I decided to open my own firm, Ryan Blatz Law. At the firm, I strive to serve as an advocate for my clients and all of Ojai.

I handle a wide range of practice areas, including the following:

I make it my mission to build meaningful relationships with all of my clients—at my firm, you truly matter. I take the time to listen to you, learn your goals, and help you clearly understand your legal options.

In addition to my legal practice, I strive to remain highly active in the community.
